Florida Realtors®: 5 Exterior Home Trends for 2024

ORLANDO, Fla. – Want a fresh new look for your home to signal the start of 2024? Here are five exterior trends designers anticipate will be big in the coming months.

Think Classic: A return to traditional and classic style is predicted for 2024, with a focus on paint color, landscaping and materials (for the house) that reflects the geographic area where the homeowner lives and calls home.

Less Is More: Many designers believe that people are ready for a “less is more” approach when it comes to painting and the exteriors of their homes. They anticipate seeing fewer painted brick exteriors, as people turn to painting their doors an interesting color or using color on exterior trim. Keeping up with maintenance for painted doors and trim is a lot less costly and stressful as well.

Customized Outdoor Living Areas: Homeowners are looking to make their outdoor spaces work well as part of their daily lives, according to designers. This could include custom features like kitchens, wood-fired pizza ovens and fireplaces or unique doors, partitions, steps or garden walls. Making technology like automated lighting and sound systems work as part of the space will also be a trend in 2024.

Landscape Design for Entertaining: Whether it’s a soft, cushy spot for family games, a special play area for children or maybe a sound, lighting and picture system for outdoor movie nights, designing the landscape and exterior for entertaining at home will be a big trend for 2024.

Using Mixed Materials and Textures: Experts predict that home exteriors in 2024 will feature a variety of materials and textures, including stone and brick, with heavy mortar in between. Elements like wood, copper or slate may be used in feature areas.
